Gayatri Mantra - self notes

Gayatri Mantra - notes
14th May – A birthday gift for self as have been wanting to write this for a while now so what better time then to commemorate once birth :)
Gayatri Mantra needs a lot of respect. While popularly Gayatri Mantra is given as follows:
Om Bhur Bhuvah Svaha
Tat savitur varanyam
Bhargo devasya dheemhi
Dhi yo nah prachodayaat
Om – All mantra start with Om
Bhur - Earth
Bhuvah - Sky
Svaha - Space
Tat – that (Also interesting to note: Om tat sat)
savitur – Sun
varanyam – welcome as guest of honour
Bhargo – God
Devasya – divinity attributes of God alone
Dheemhi – as in dheema i.e. slowly contemplate i.e. meditate
Dhi - as in buddhi i.e. intellect
yo –me/you
nah – you/mine
prachodayaat - enlighten
Rik Ved fifth mandala only has :
Tat savitur varanyam, Bhargo devasya dheemhi, Dhi yo nah prachodayaat
A simple meaning /Self-note:
Dear Sun – with respect please come (request for meeting) and grace my intellect, while I meditate on divinity of God.
Self -Notes: Illumination of intellect appears to be a secondary, by-product of the meeting in itself.
